Where do you source your raw ingredients?
Our mission is to source the absolute best of the best meats one can find in the Los Angeles area. From grass fed beef, forest raised pork, sumptuous lamb, and heritage chicken- we’re here to find the farms that ethically raise their animals. For our seafood offerings, we use wild caught fish and aqua cultured seafood. For vegetables and produce, we buy from local, organic farms.
Is there a menu to order from? What about swapping proteins?
Yes, we prepare an ever-changing, innovative, and seasonal menu each week. And you have the option to swap out proteins if you prefer a different protein in your meals for the week. This can be done during the checkout by selecting the desired swap for an additional charge.
When is my food delivered?
Currently we deliver all of your prepared meals on Sunday. Please make sure someone is home or will be home during our delivery window to receive the delivery.
How is the food packaged?
Each dish is packaged separately, giving you freedom to choose how to pair your meals.
What if I want more protein or sides added to my order?
During your checkout, you can select to add more food to your plan.
What special process do you use to ensure food safety and freshness?
All of the food we deliver to your door is prepared in an inspected and "A" graded commercial kitchen in Los Angeles. We adhere to the highest food handling, preparing, cooking temperatures, and cooling guidelines set by the county.
Preparing food to last for five days depends on the speed in which the cooked food can be cooled immediately after cooking. We use a state-of-the-art blast chiller in our commercial facility, which can quickly cool 150-degree roast down to 40 degrees in 35 minutes.
How long will my food last in the refrigerator or freezer?
If prepared food is properly cooked and cooled, and kept unopened in its original container, it will stay fresh for up to 6 days in the refrigerator. You also have the option to freeze our food for up to 3-4 months if you are unable to consume it in the appropriate amount of time. We recommend consuming any seafood dishes as soon as possible.
What do you call this style of eating? Keto? Low Carb High Fat? Something Else?
We are not interested in narrowly defining this style of cuisine, but it is in line with the ketogenic and low carb high fat diets, and it also includes healthy portions of organic vegetables. We do not use any seed oils, simple carbohydrates, added sugars, or GMO produce in our food.

What if I’m vegetarian and my husband eats meat? Or vice versa?
You can add some veggie patties at checkout and enjoy with the vegetarian sides. Or you can make The Gourmet Animal a full vegetarian delivery. Just click the button by swaps and choose vegetables.
I’m what some would call 'a foodie'. Is this right for me?
Yes, this meal delivery program is designed for you. Global cuisine and an epic variety of dishes means you trust the source and it rarely gets boring.
What if I have food allergies?
If you have food allergies, you can still order and enjoy our food. We provide a way to easily swap things at checkout. And if it’s a permanent swap, we’ll update you in the system.
Can you accommodate dairy free requests?
Unfortunately, we do not offer dairy free options, but we do use only A2 organic dairy sources.
Do you count Macros?
No. We offer meals based on protein needs by weight per day.
What if I have a lot of dietary restrictions?
We will try our best to accommodate your requests, but since we are preparing food for many people, we like to keep our process streamlined. You can email us at support @thegourmetanimal.com if you have any questions. It also may be that if your diet is too restrictive, our service may not be the right fit.
How and when do I place my order?
Our ordering process is all online and easy to navigate on the checkout page. We need to receive your order on Wednesday by 6pm for Sunday delivery.
Can I pause my subscription?
You can pause your subscription at any time in the customer portal. We offer a 1-week (1 delivery) and 1-month (4 deliveries) subscription that renews each week or after four weeks depending on the subscription, unless cancelled or paused.
