A note on our packaging.

We desperately want there to be a solution in longer than take-out packaging that keeps food fresh, but the technology at a large scale isn't there at the moment. Once sea/plant based packaging that can keep food fresh becomes available, we'll be the first company to use. And unfortunately, we don't have the washing and storing facilities for glass packaging.

As we wait for a market solution, all of our packaging is a mix of recyclable plastic and biodegradable fiber. We value food quality and shelf life, and therefore compostable sugarcane bagasse and coated card stock doesn't work for our needs. It soaks up sauces, dries out the protein, and can be a mess in the refrigerator

We will gladly take your empty containers and the bag it all came in and reuse. Just leave them out for pickup on Sunday when your food arrives for the next week.

When is the Order Cut off?

On Tuesday by 7pm if you want to be included in the following Sunday's delivery. All orders placed after Tuesday night will be kicked to the week after the current week. This is also true if you wish to PAUSE or CANCEL your plan. Tuesday at 7pm is the cut-off for cancelling or pausing your subscription.

What is the difference between the Single, Single LITE, and Family sizes?

The Single is designed for someone who weighs 150-185 lbs and needs 100-130g of protein per day. Roughly 50g protein per serving or 1/2 lb cooked protein per serving.

The Single LITE is designed for someone who weighs between 100-150 lbs and needs 60-75g protein per day. This is ideal for active women. Roughly 30-40g protein per serving or 1/3 lb cooked protein.

The FAMILY is designed for 2 active people and contains 175-200g protein per day. Essentially you get 1 Lite and one Single.

How much food is in the 5 day? What about the 3 Day prep?

Our portions are large and beefy. We don't use cheap fillers like rice and potatoes in our meals. Epic, farm sourced protein is our main ingredient in your meals as are organic vegetables and brilliant sauces.

The 5 Day has 5 ENTREES and 4 SIDES with a beautiful, organic salad. 10 packages total.

The 3 Day has 3 ENTREES and 2 SIDES with the same beautiful salad. Each container you receive is designed to have 2 servings. 6 packages total.

DINNERS ONLY - exactly as it says. One serving of each entree for either 3 Days or 5 Days. Sides for Dinners Only are boxed in the same package. Lunches are not included. This is enough for dinner ONLY.

What kind of meat is in the Gourmet Animal? 

Our mission is source the most sustainable and impactful producers in the region.

From grass fed beef, forrest raised pork, sumptuous lamb, and heritage chicken- we’re here to find the farms that do the raising right. Add to that Wild Fish and best practices of aqua cultured fish/shellfish and you’ve got sourcing that destroys the competition.

How is the food packaged? Bento box or Ala Carte?

For the 3-Day and 5-Day prep, each dish is plated ala carte. Packing like this means you have options for entrees and sides that you get to choose.

For Dinners Only, we pack the sides in the same packaging as the Entree. Our Salad would come ala carte on the side and we may pack differently depending on the dish.

What if I want more protein?

Easy. Just add protein at checkout and you'll get an extra 50g of protein per day for either 3 or 5 Days. If you weigh 190- 200 lbs or more and are very active (workout more than 4 Days/week), you might consider adding extra protein.

How does Swapping Work?

Swaps are designed so that you don't get protein that you don't want. Ever. If you are a Monthly or Weekly subscriber, all you have to do is Swap those proteins you never want ONCE- when you first order a subscription plan. We will then have that information in the system for the future.

Swapping is designed to make it EASY for you to get what you want. And when you swap, the dish will be replaced by the kitchen, not by a menu you have to choose from. You'll get another dish from the menu for the 3-Day Subscribers, and for the 5-Day, you'll recevie an additional serving of an entree, or a split entree from the Weekly Menu chosen by the kitchen, not you.

How does the Subscription Work?

Subscriptions renew on Tuesday at 7pm. This is also the day you need to cancel/pause your subscription or sign up to be included in the following Sunday's delivery if you are not on a subscription. 

We have 2 Subscription Plans. MONTHLY and WEEKLY.

Subscribe MONTHLY, pay in ADVANCE, and save 10% off each week. You will pay ahead of time for the entire month and are locked in to 4 deliveries in a row without the ability to cancel or pause. After the 4th delivery, you can PAUSE, CANCEL or CHANGE your subscription. If you do nothing, you will be billed on the 5th week for another month of The Gourmet Animal and get the same subscription for an additional month. You are paying in advance for 4 deliveries- 1 delivery per week. This is the absolute best way to see results and the deepest savings we offer. 

Subscribe WEEKLY for 5% off each week. You'll be billed at the discounted rate each Monday, the same day your orders must be placed for the following week. The billing auto-renews every Tuesday. So... if you want to SKIP a delivery or PAUSE the subscription, you must do so in the Customer Portal on or before Monday at midnight. 

Subscribers will get other perks such additional dishes in their delivery such as including incredibly FRESH market dishes that must be eaten the day of delivery. 

At The Gourmet Animal, we urge you to stay for at least a month to see real results. But if holiday plans or a busy social schedule gets in the way, just pause when you want and rejoin when you're ready.

Is there a MENU to order from?

We print the Next Week’s Menu on Tuesday morning, the same day as the order cut-off for the week.

If you see something you don't want, we encourage you to SWAP if you don’t like an item from the menu for One Off Purchases ONLY.

For Subscribers, please SWAP any protein you NEVER want to receive when you checkout the first time and you will never get that selection.

When do you deliver?

We deliver on Sundays starting at 9am-4pm. Your meals will be there in time to enjoy Monday lunch with the Gourmet Animal. Or Sunday dinner if that's how you feel.

How difficult is getting off carbs/sugar?

Not too bad honestly. If you have the Gourmet Animal, you’ll be in a good place. Just eat what’s in the prep and know that you WILL have cravings and be a little uncomfortable as you start this journey. Some symptoms include crankiness, hunger, and a little keto-flu, which isn’t anything like the real flu. It’s mostly MENTAL(And you’ve got this)! Most acute symptoms pass after 5 days but everyone is different, so we can’t guarantee the timeline. Needless to say you're on your way to feeling great!

What are the benefits of the Gourmet Animal?

Food availability in your fridge keeps you on track and away from cheating with carbs and sugar.  Meals are easy and delicious and you never have to hunt for food. If you stick with us for a month, we guarantee weight loss, better sleep, more energy, focus and increased libido. 

What if I’m a Vegetarian and my husband eats meat?

You can add veggie patties at checkout and enjoy with the vegetarian sides. And watch as you husband devours the meats!

I’m a foodie, is this perfect for me?

This is designed for you. Global cuisine and an epic variety of dishes means you trust the source and it rarely gets boring. Even though sometimes eating your veggies IS boring. We spruce it all up so that even our Brussels sprouts taste magical. Eventually, we’ll be serving Venison, Elk, and other exotic meats as we find the best suppliers in the country.

What If I don’t like Brussels sprouts and I am allergic to Shellfish?

One of the goals of our service is to expand your palette. You can certainly give us your allergies/NO foods at checkout. If you need to contact us, please do so with an email to:

We will do our best to never give you what you don't want. Some things are impossible to avoid like garlic and onions. However, if you have allergies to Shellfish or Red Meat, you can easily SWAP protein at checkout.

Do you count MACROS?

Nope. We give you enough protein based on your order with delicious veggie sides. There is an app to track your Macros if this is a concern for you.

What if I have LOTS of Dietary Restrictions? 

Up to a point, we can do our best. For instance, if you don’t like Fish or seeds just let us know when you checkout. Or, email us at support@thegourmetanimal.com and let us know what you're concerned about. But if the restrictions start to get too numerous, we may not be able to work together, and that's okay!

Can I pause my subscription?

Yes. You can pause if you are traveling but only if you are on the Weekly subscription.

For the Monthly subscription, you have to receive 4 deliveries in a row before you can pause or cancel. All of this can be done from the customer portal.

You must PAUSE or CANCEL by Tuesday at 7pm in the customer portal for ALL Subscriptions.

What if I dislike something I receive?

We make incredible food and stand by everything that leaves the kitchen, but we also understand if we don't make you 1000 percent satisfied. And if that happens, please reach out to support@thegourmetanimal.com and let us know. We want you to be exceedingly happy with everything you get from us. We'll most likely credit your account for the pro-rated portion of the delivery.

Can I get my meals Dairy Free?

Yes. We have a button at checkout that you toggle. And you'll have all your food diary free.

Do you do no onions, no garlic?

Not yet! Onions are garlic are the bedrocks of sauces, so they are almost impossible to withold from cooking. That said, if there are enough people who don't want them, we'll surely add this option to our offerings.
